Education
In terms of education, our city-state, Eirínios, believed that education was very important. We feel that everyone should have a basic understanding of life skills and how to communicate with other people. After this basic understanding, women and men are educated differently. We educate men in a physical aspect. We feel it is important for a male to know how to farm, build landscapes and learn how to provide for their family. They also learn how to sail and basic geography for trade. This is important because the men need to know how to sail in order to trade with other people. These men will be provide with this education through the government. On the other hand, woman will learn how to do house work, raise children, and cook for their families. Woman are offered to learn these skills, but it is very hard for most woman to get into a school. The woman who are unable to get into a school have to either learn the skills by themselves or with the help of other people in Eirínios.
Philosophy
We have a strong link to the views of Philosophy in Athens, with study being in the three main areas, of Skeptics, Epicurean and the Stoics. Epicurean being perhaps the most widely embraced within the society. Their belief being that the one true way to be happy is to stop focusing on wanting material things and not being afraid of the Gods, which fits well in our Polytheistic society. The skeptics and Stoics taking a more laid back approach, one following the “don’t worry about the things you can’t control” and the other promoting, ”everything in moderation” but all three embracing ways to be a happier human being.
